Hello all.
I know it's been ages since I've been here, and I think I've only made one post on the
message boards.
Last year, HIMS Inc. released the Braille Sense Polaris, and I've been trying to get one, but I can't seem to find a way to do so. I've had a Braille Sense Plus, the prior model to the U2 units, since 2011. It no longer connects to my home network, because we got a new one, about two years ago, for use with the Fire stick from Amazon. When I go other places, the Wifi is hit or miss; sometimes the Braille Sense Plus will connect, sometimes it takes ages to finally connect, and sometimes it won't see any networks at all. I would love to get the new Polaris for several reasons, the biggest ones being that it would have updated wireless connectivity, more storage, and I could use my Google account and download apps from the Play Store. I think that would be very cool. :) I got a Fire TV for Christmas and have a few apps on there. Other than the Amazon Fire TV, I've never used an actual Android device or even an IOS device, for that matter. The Braille Sense Plus I have was purchased for me through
the VR program. When I asked my counselor if the new model could be purchased for me, she said probably not since they'd already bought me the one I had. I did some research into GoFundMe, and that led to the knowledge that if I started a campaign on that website, it would potentially affect my SSI. So, does anyone know of other paths I could take to earn the money to buy this, or some organization that could get it for me?
Got a U2 and I'm happy with that, sooooo...
I have a U2 and am happy with that. The U2 will allow you to do all the things you want to do, except for the Google stuff. Wireless connectivity and storage on the U2 are optimal. That said, I would love to hear experiences from those who do have a Polaris. Those who have one, what do you think?
